Another student represents Australia
The term started with the Australian Maths Olympiad (AMO), which is a two day exam for about 200 invited students from all over Australia. If maths were a sport, this would be the national championships. Each day's exam consisted of 4 problems to be solved in 4 hours. About the top 20 scores receive Golds, the next 30 receive Silver and then 50 Bronze Australia wide. I am happy to say that all those students who attended the new year camp and holiday programs did very well, which included all three of the Seniors getting Gold.
The top 25 of these students then go on to the Selection School to take the Team Selection Test (TST) consisting of four exams each with three questions for 4.5 hours per day over 4 days. From these students, 6 are chosen to represent Australia in the International Maths Olympiad (IMO) held in the United Kingdom. I am glad to say that one of our students was selected to represent Australia at the IMO.
In the last 3 years we have had three year 12 students attempt the TST and this is our second student to represent Australia.
